For creating awareness about the disease, National Association For Reproductive And Child Health Of India (NARCHI) Delhi branch is organising a Thalessemia Awareness Walkathon at 7.00 am on 2nd December,at inner circle of Connaught place New Delhi.
Thalessimia is a genetic disorder which is due to defective hemoglobin leading to its destruction,which makes the affected person dependent on blood transfusions every 2-3 weeks for survival.
At present , there are over 1lakh such Thalessemic patients and over 42 million Thalessemia carriers.
According to NARCHI Delhi branch President Dr Achla Batra,”Thalessemia is completely preventable. It only calls for awareness about the disease amongst the society especially the youngsters. place.
People especially the youngsters are requested to be the part of the WALKATHON and make it successful.
