At present, every second person in Delhi is fighting with one or the other respiratory issues, head ache, suffocation, congestion, cough, irritation in eyes due to dense smog.
A declining condition of National capital’s environment was seen due to inexorable pollution and heavy covering of smog for the past many days. The air monitoring agencies like SAFAR reported that air quality index had touched AQI at 500 mark while Centre For Science & Environment (CSE) declared that Delhi-NCR region had faced worst smog in 17 years last week.
Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) which is a by-product of explosives has increased to 123 μg/m3 on Sunday, October 30th, 2016. With increasing NO2 concentration, the risk of lung cancer also appears to increase as per the report. That means every second individual in the city will have a risk to catch lung cancer.
The city’s scenario changes post Diwali every year when lots of smoke, fumes, and pollutant particles are added to the atmosphere and as a result, Delhi is gradually on the verge to become a death chamber and in coming future it will have to take the total responsibility for creating a mass genocide where numerous people including innocent kids will be killed only because of the hazardous effects of air pollution.
Rakesh, MD, India Eye IHRO told Healthlive “ we are compelled to knock door of public to awaken them to shake the Government to take sustainable actions and not wake up every time after the game is up. Is there a provision of ‘medical emergency’ and closure of all schools, offices and market to stop outdoor activities? We need more citizenry awareness to question our right to life from the government he added.
Further Mr.Rakesh said, considering this alarming situation, India Eye IHRO held a protest at Jantar Mantar against the menace of pollution and mobilised larger number of people in Delhi for creating awareness to take steps to control air pollution.
Jyoti Kiran Malik, COO, India Eye IHRO said We also sent letters to all Ministers of Delhi including Chief Minister and LG with a mask to protect them from poisonous air of Delhi as they have left Delhiites to fend for themselves.
India Eye IHRO is dedicated to the crucial social welfare programmes i.e. “Save Girl Child, environment protection, welfare of the Senior Citizens & Tribes and eradication of Blindness”.
